Wow.. By the looks of the white one I posted, I thought it was brand new. Even this [800cc] one looks newer than 1995 (to me).
There's been something similar on Craigslist a couple of times, but the engine was in pieces and it was unclear if it had ever been registered. Steve
It was built in limited numbers as a Dakar bike (think Baja 1000 and then some more), but it never met expectations. The motor is a Rotax unit and parts are available, though you'll likely find them much more easily in Europe than here.
Andrew, you sure about that Rotax. From the pic's sure looks like the DR side cases. What do you think Drew? Would be cool if we could find a top end.
The DR Big was a europe-only model with a Suzuki engine. There's a few gray-market bikes around the bay area, I've seen them for sale over the years. I don't think the Dr BIG was a special PD replica-- to my recollection Suzuki never had a factory PD team.
Suzuki DR-BIG the 750 This is an old bike, and I guess they made an 800cc model as well.. I just discovered this on another site and wondered in anyone here had ever seen or ridden one. Why in the hell do all the really cool bikes stay off US soil?
There have been several versions of the Dr Big. There was one out at Metcalf a couple of weeks ago. Not such a fun bike, in reality.
Well, I guess it's too big to really dirt ride but why didn't they just update this instead of giving us the V-strom? This is cool looking. Given the way the BMW GS bikes sell here there is a market for this kind of bike. Heck this even looks like a fairly modern GS, and suzuki was there 20 years ago.. -Peter Here's an 800
