    It's a helmet. Wear it.

(I'm wearing my hat to avoid potential damage to psyche of the viewer. The spectacle of my balding head has been known to do that)

You wear a helmet in Texas?

I think I see like 1 of 50 people there wearing a helmet.

Do you get called Sissy a lot? Seemed to be a macho thing....

I get a lot of weird looks. Especially since I ride a cruiser.

They can piss off, it's my head. (See Also: A Boy Named Sue).

It's good to talk at you again (textwise) Trumper. :thumbup

I actually started riding when I was at Ft Hood, and like a knucklehead, I would ride with no helmet, a tanktop, fingerless gloves, jeans, and combat boots. Only piece of real safety gear was my pimping tinted safety glasses.:lol Luckily I took a safety class within my first month of riding and changed my mind.

I was wearing a half helmet for a while, until I went on a 25 degree night ride. Borrowed my buddies full face and I never looked back. It is beyond me why anyone would not wear a helmet, the wind noise alone was enough to bug the **** out of me, not to mention that bumblebee at 75 mph that put a knot on my forehead the size of a golfball.:lol

Nice ride btw! I rode with a guy who had the same bike in texas. It was solid and he used it for the daily driver until his starter crapped. Fixed that and the thing is still running today like a champ. Did you notice less vibration with the Grips? That's why I originally bought mine. Just sold them on ebay for $36 after using them for 5 years, so if you change your mind about yours, definitely don't just toss them.

My bike doesn't actually transfer all that much vibration from the engine, so I haven't really noticed any drop in vibration through the grips.

There's a noticeable difference in the diameter of the grips compared to the stock ones, though. Which is good for me, because I have big hands.

I've always worn a full face, it just seemed the thing to do. Especially after the ride I took from the Bay Area down to my mom's house around Joshua Tree - I had an SUV blow the right rear tire while it was in the lane to my left and about twenty feet in front of me - I had rubber chunks pelting me all over, I don't remember any hitting me in the helmet, but that's because I was distracted by the big ass chunk that hit me in the center of my chest.

That was the ride that I had a car pick up a dead snake off the road and throw it at me. Fun. (I pushed right, went right, and it missed me)

Have any pics of the Sportster? :)
