I never went to ER when I was road racing for 18 years but what was supposed to be a fun dirtbike ride at Hollister with a friend ended up being a day spent mostly at the hospital with a broken back. I'm very, very lucky and should make a full recovery. 4-6 weeks in a goofy brace should do the trick.

I can't say for sure what happened but I had just installed StegPegz on the KTM 300. I was still playing around with adjusting the position but if/when I get the bike back together, they're coming off! The boots sort of lock into the bike and while in theory that might sound good (at least it did to me), they really didn't work out so well for me. Obviously...

Between getting laid off last month and this fun episode, I'm thinking I might want to start going to church!

Good luck with your recovery, glad it wasn't any worse than it was. That's pretty much how my last visit to Hollister ended up too. 15 years ago this month and still feelin it lol.

Right?! :lol While they did help me stand up quite a bit more, the downside is a major bummer. Kind of like being clipped in on a bicycle, which works out great right up to the point when it doesn't... ugh

Holy crap that bike is twisted and bent. Glad your going to recovery from this. I've never been a fan of those or the pivot pegs.

Thanks Andy. I posted in this section mostly as a reference for anyone considering StegPegz. While they work great as a training aid to help you stand up more, the downside turned out to be kind of a bummer for me and I would probably advise against them. I can sort of laugh now because I didn't get paralyzed - and the narcos work very well! :smilewink - but I think being able to get away from the bike easily is sometimes very important.
